Title: Education and Outreach Manager
Time Requirements: 35 hours per week, 5 days (up to 2 remote)
Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education and Outreach Manager leads all Garrison Art Center education and community arts programs: adult classes and workshops, pottery, children's programs, and summer youth programs. The role manages teaching artists, supervises the Program Assistant's education duties, and oversees the education budget. Education is GAC's largest source of earned revenue.
Qualifications: 3–5 years of experience managing arts education programs, including supervising staff or teaching artists, required. Grant writing experience required, with a record of successful applications; please list grants written and awarded. Experience managing art materials inventory and analyzing material costs required. Must have a strong art education background, strong writing and communication skills, and be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing a budget. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, PayPal, and Bill.com. Experience working with youth, CourseStorm (or equivalent class registration programs), and Wix preferred. Bachelor's degree in art education, studio art, arts administration, or a related field preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Budget
- Work with ED to analyze education programs, plan growth, and build the annual Education and Community Arts budget with budget and reach goals
- Track the budget and report enrollment, revenue, and expenses by program
- Approve financial assistance requests and manage the aid budget, tracking awards by student and program
- Research and write grant applications with ED to support material and program expenses; provide data, outcomes, and testimonials for grant reports
- Develop adult and children's programs with teaching artists, maintain the annual calendar (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), and launch sessions 6–8 weeks ahead
- Evaluate programs through student surveys and class capacity analysis
- Teaching Artists & Staff
- Recruit, onboard, and schedule teaching artists and summer program staff within budget; maintain agreements and submit teaching artist payments on time
- Supervise the Program Assistant's education duties and take part in hiring and performance reviews
- Coordinate with the pottery studio manager on studio operations and supplies
- Onsite Program Management
- Manage art materials inventory and ordering for classrooms and the pottery studio; analyze material costs per class to set material fees and pricing with ED
- Oversee CourseStorm registration, including class setup, pricing, discounts, and refunds per GAC policy; respond daily to teachers, students, and parents
- Keep classrooms safe, well-maintained, and equipped
- Oversee summer youth program operations, including parent communications, drop-off and pick-up, and child safety policies
- Provide class information to the Communications Manager for promotion, and keep education information on the website current with the Program Assistant
- Oversee student exhibitions and education-related events, including the SITE and Mentor Exhibition
- Community Arts & Outreach
- Oversee CRS, SITE, Mentor, school tours to GAC, and low-cost senior programming
- Identify new community partners and programs to reach underserved audiences
- Support accessibility for students, promote GAC's financial aid and accessibility work, and track participation for grant reporting
Work Environment:
Full-time, 35 hours per week, five days a week. One remote day per week, with up to two (excluding Fridays) after the 90-day introductory period, at the discretion of the Executive Director. In person five days a week for eight weeks during summer programs. Some evenings and weekends required. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
