    Description

    Position Overview

    The Summer Camp Nurse is responsible for overseeing the health and wellness of campers and staff throughout the camp season. This role serves as the on-site primary medical professional, ensuring proper care, documentation, and communication for all health matters.

    Responsibilities

    Student Health & Medical Care

    • Provide routine and emergency medical care to campers and staff
    • Administer medications in accordance with physician instructions and camp policies
    • Respond to and manage illness, injury, and medical emergencies
    • Accompany campers or staff to off-site medical facilities when necessary
    • Serve as the primary liaison between camp administration and families regarding medical needs
    • Communicate promptly with families or designated contacts in the event of serious health concerns

    Health Records & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate and complete health records for all campers and staff
    • Review, collect, and manage medical forms and documentation prior to and during camp
    • Ensure proper storage, tracking, and dispensing of prescribed medications
    • Collaborate with camp administration to ensure the timely and accurate processing of health information
    • Monitor and support compliance with health and safety standards

    Qualifications

    • MA Licensed healthcare professional: RN, LPN, or NP
    • Current CPR, First Aid, Concussion, and EpiPen certification
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Experience in pediatric and adult care, including emergency response
    • Knowledge of community health practices
    • Prior experience working with children and young adults preferred
    • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills within scope of practice
    • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
    • Excellent communication skills with families, staff, and leadership
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in recordkeeping
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
