Wage: $20.75/hour Hours per week: 28 - 30 Number of Weeks: 9
Essential Functions:
The Summer Camp Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Summer Camp Staff, Volunteers, and lesson planning for unmounted activities. They will provide direct support to the daily Camp activities and provide future planning for the weeks following. They will also assist and organize the setup and break down of all necessary camp needs.
The Summer Camp Coordinator will operate under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for independent judgment and actions in assigned instructional and student matters. S/he will report to the Adaptive Services Director.
Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate training for summer camp staff
- Teach unmounted horsemanship lessons
- Manage a small group of campers (age 5-25), with and without disabilities
- Lesson planning for activities and projects.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents/guardians of campers.
- Pre-plan and execute horse assignments with the input from the Instructing staff
Basic Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- 2+ years of riding and horsemanship experience
- Experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp environment
- Leadership experience with peers or direct reports
- U. S. Citizen or valid resident/ work permit
- Must pass a Criminal History background check
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Experience working with people and disabilities
- Knowledge of PATH standards and ability to ensure compliance
- Background in horseback riding and basic mounted horsemanship skills desired
- Excellent verbal and good written communication skills
- Ability to set priorities, organize and manage diverse activities and meet deadlines
- Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results
- CPR/ AED/First Aid certification

Working Conditions/Physical Effort
Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion and/ or physical strain
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs
- Assist riders weighing up to 190 lbs with mounts and dismounts
- Involves occasional exposure to disagreeable weather conditions
- Walk 5-8 miles per day over uneven surfaces
