    Description

    Community Organizing Alliance (COA) and Community Action Alliance (CAA) work to advance racial and social justice among Black and immigrant communities through civic engagement, policy advocacy, and grassroots electoral organizing. We strive to create a just and equitable society through programs that center communities who have been historically underserved and underrepresented. Our work seeks to build a world where participatory engagement in government is valued and prioritized, and where people have the skills, tools, and power to shape their communities.

    Position Overview

    Community Organizing Alliance (COA) and Community Action Alliance (CAA) seek an Operations Manager who is deeply aligned with our values of racial and social equity and committed to advancing systemic change at both community and government levels.

    The Operations Manager will play a key role in building the future of COA and CAA by supporting the internal systems and infrastructure that make our organizing and advocacy work possible. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to support internal systems, administrative processes, and day-to-day operations across both organizations.

    This role will help maintain organizational efficiency, support payroll and financial recordkeeping, and strengthen operational systems that allow program and staff teams to focus on community-facing work.

    Responsibilities

    Operations & Administration

    • Maintain organizational files, systems, and workflows across both organizations
    • Support staff onboarding and administrative processes
    • Coordinate contracts, vendor documentation, and internal records
    • Support preparation for board and organizational meetings as needed

    Financial & Payroll Support

    • Coordinate payroll processing and timesheet tracking
    • Maintain expense records and reimbursement documentation
    • Support grant and program budget tracking
    • Prepare organized financial records for accountants or bookkeepers

    Organizational Systems & Recordkeeping

    • Maintain accurate digital filing systems and documentation
    • Support compliance-related recordkeeping and reporting needs
    • Assist with internal tracking systems and operational reporting
    • Help ensure clear documentation and separation of records across affiliated organizations

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated success supporting and operationalizing programs, systems, or organizational
    • processes to ensure effective implementation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice,
    • equity, and inclusion
    • Demonstrated ability to anticipate organizational needs, manage multiple operational priorities,
    • and take initiative to ensure systems and processes run smoothly and efficiently.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • 2–4 years of experience in administrative, operations, or organizational support roles, preferably
    • within a nonprofit or community-based organization
    • Comfort working with spreadsheets, documentation, and financial tracking systems
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrate cultural competency and humility, with proven ability to work in multicultural,
    • multilingual and multiracial spaces.
    • Ability to work autonomously, to exhibit initiative as well as to work collaboratively with a small team

    Compensation & Benefits

    COA/CAA is an EEO Employer committed to a racially just, equitable, and inclusive workplace. This is a full-time, salaried, hybrid position working approximately 35–40 hours per week. The anticipated base salary is approximately $52,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience, not including fringe benefits. COA and CAA offer a benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
