    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The New Mexico & Chapter Initiatives Manager leads Glisten’s national Chapter initiatives and New Mexico Chapter work. This role drives implementation of Glisten’s Chapter Network model to strengthen student leadership, organizing, and advocacy across K-12 education. Key responsibilities include managing Glisten New Mexico contracts deliverables, recruiting and skilling-up New Mexico’s next leadership team, and supporting initiatives across the Glisten Chapter Network. The Manager also tracks program impact and builds strong relationships with members, Chapter leads, and staff.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who thrives in building and rebuilding programs and infrastructure. The role will require creativity, initiative, and strategic thinking to design systems, resources, and experiences that empower and amplify local Glisten Chapters. The ideal candidate brings experience in program management, facilitation, and community organizing, along with a strong commitment to equity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and education justice.

    This role is unique in that we are searching for a New Mexico-based candidate who will flank NM-centric and HQ-level work in FY27 and transition fully to HQ-level Chapter Network support in FY28.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Glisten New Mexico Leadership & Coordination

    • Lead and execute Glisten’s New Mexico Department of Health contract deliverables:
      • Trainings (x4)
      • Social Media Campaigns (x2)
      • Youth and Educator Summit
      • Rainbow Library
    • Lead NM DOH reporting and billing procedures.
    • Recruit and train new Glisten New Mexico leadership team (Chair, Vice Chair, and a minimum of six (6) additional members).
    • Support existing volunteers to enact Glisten’s mission, vision, and values throughout New Mexico.
    • Support Glisten New Mexico and its members through the transition back to a full volunteer model after FY27.

    Chapter Engagement & Communication

    • Maintain regular communication with Chapters and Chapter members.
    • Administer and moderate Glisten’s member communication platform (currently Slack), to foster connection and community.
    • Manage constituent inboxes, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
    • Build and sustain relationships with Chapter leads/ members and other stakeholders.

    Resource & Content Development

    • Develop, update, and curate resources to support Chapter engagement and leadership.
    • Disseminate resources and opportunities across the Chapter Network.
    • Manage internal and external Chapter Network resource libraries.
    • Support Chapter participation in HQ campaigns and related content creation.

    Training & Capacity Building

    • Support training for Chapter Leads/ members.
    • Provide technical assistance to Chapter Leads/ members.
    • Facilitate peer learning and collaboration among Glisten Chapters.
    • Create and manage training materials for chapters.

    Data, Evaluation & Administration

    • Track and analyze engagement and impact data to guide strategy.
    • Assist with budget planning and resource allocation, while overseeing and being responsible for expense tracking, including credit card expenditures, to ensure accuracy and accountability.
    • Maintain systems to monitor program outcomes and effectiveness.
    • Support departmental projects as needed.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience developing and managing community engagement programs with a broad, strategic perspective; ideally at the state or national level.
    • Five or more years of project or program management and logistics coordination, with a demonstrated ability to oversee complex initiatives from planning through execution, is a must.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (such as youth development, education, public health, and counseling) a plus.
    • Two or more years of facilitation or training experience, designing and delivering engaging, effective sessions for diverse audiences, is a must.
    • Three or more years of experience in organizing and/or advocacy, with a deep understanding of the issues facing people in educational settings.
    • Proficient in using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive), Zoom, is required. Familiarity with presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides) and Slack is a plus.
    • Knowledge of project management tools such as Asana, is a plus.
    • Demonstrated success in cultivating and sustaining relationships that advance program goals and foster trust across diverse groups.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of organizing and leadership development principles, best practices, and pedagogy.
    • Knowledge of the U.S. education system and current LGBTQ+ issues in schools.
    • Commitment to social justice and knowledge of anti-oppression/anti-racist work.
    • Proven ability to manage time efficiently and support multiple projects at once.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and consistency in follow-up.
    • Working knowledge of social media and constituent database software.
    • Willingness to travel domestically, as needed, for special events.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support special meetings or events.

    • Communication & Relationship Building - Strong communication skills to effectively engage with youth, chapter leaders, and cross-functional teams while fostering trust and collaboration.
    • Facilitation & Training - Skilled in developing and delivering engaging, trainings for youth and adult allies, and supporting student leadership through coaching and capacity building.
    • Equity & Social Justice Framework
    • Deep commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, anti-racism, and education justice, with the ability to apply an anti-oppression lens across all areas of work.

    SALARY

    The salary for this position is $80,000 annually.
