    Description

    The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of the Program, ensuring the Program’s financial health and integrity, and handling oversight and management of non-programmatic administrative processes. The position works closely with the two Co-Directors and the Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the Program’s mission and goals.

    Tasks of the Finance Manager include but are not limited to:

    Manage and oversee all financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

    Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial grant reports.

    Work with the Program’s contracted Certified Public Accountant to process payroll, and to prepare and file the Program’s required tax forms including the IRS 990 form and Financial Statements.

    Prepare and present financial reports to the Co-Directors and Board of Directors, providing analysis and recommendations as needed, including reports on actual performance against budget.

    Supervise the part-time Finance Assistant.

    Manage bank and investment accounts to ensure that funding is available to meet daily obligations and that the Program is maximizing earnings on investments.

    Manage cash flow, maintain accounts payable and receivable, and ensure complete and accurate records of all transactions.

    Oversee financial and administrative procedures, including procurement, insurance, fiscal controls, contracts, and financial records retention.

    Track and administer paid leave accruals and balances.

    Attend meetings with grantors, contractors, and other Program partners/stakeholders as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    Five or more years’ professional experience with budget development and management, ideally with grant budgets.

    Professional experience with GAAP, fiscal controls, financial data analysis, financial reporting, accounting software, and administrative procedures.

    Integrity and responsibility to facilitate transparency and honesty in financial reporting and management.

    Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    Understanding of Program goals, objectives, strategies, and outcome measurement.

    Strong work ethic.

    Ability to work and meet with others in a virtual environment.

    COMPENSATION

    This is a full-time position (30 hours per week), with annual compensation (salary plus health/retirement stipends) set at $78,000. Work hours are flexible and can be coordinated weekly with the Co-Directors. The position includes paid leave and holidays.

    This position does not include employee-provided health or retirement benefits. Stipends are provided in lieu of employee plans.

    WORKPLACE

    The Kin Support Program Haa Yatx’u Saani (ha yut koo saw knee - “Our Precious Children”) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Juneau, serving the Southeast Alaska region. We work with relatives raising children outside the foster care system to ensure they have the financial, social, cultural, and legal resources needed for family wellness and stability. We have a hybrid workplace, with some work performed remotely and some performed in-person at our office. There are currently six employees.
