Who are we

Founded in 2015 as a community-based organization in Western Kenya, the Center for Rural Empowerment and Agricultural Transformation for Sustainability (Creats International) was established by a group of young and passionate community members determined to address the pressing challenges of poverty, hunger, and gender inequality in rural Kenya. Creats International dismantles the social, cultural, and economic barriers that hold marginalized communities, especially women and youth, from thriving through inclusive rural industrialization, food security, climate resilience, and women-led entrepreneurship.

Our Approach

At Creats International, relationship-building is at the heart of everything we do. We foster strong connections with marginalized individuals and communities to gain a deeper understanding of their beliefs, aspirations, and challenges. With this insight, we equip marginalized communities with practical tools such as agricultural inputs, market linkages, and access to clean water and financial resources. Our goal is to empower people to design their lives, take charge of their futures, and become active contributors to their communities.

Our grassroots approach to development sets us apart. We prioritize giving marginalized communities a voice and a seat at the decision-making table. This inclusive approach ensures that the solutions we implement are context-specific, sustainable, and resilient.

Our Core Approach:

1. Community empowerment & innovation: We build the capacity of local communities to co-create and lead homegrown solutions to challenges such as hunger, poverty, gender inequality, and climate change.
2. Agribusiness & market linkages: We connect smallholder farmers to drought-tolerant seeds, agro-inputs, markets, and financial resources, fostering inclusive value chains and sustainable rural development.
3. Women & youth in business: We support small-scale agribusinesses through financial literacy, business planning, and value addition training, especially for women and youth-led enterprises.
4. Environmental conservation and climate action: We promote regenerative agriculture, tree planting, agroforestry, and circular economy practices grounded in local knowledge.
5. Policy advocacy: We champion inclusive policies to ensure that women, youth, and other vulnerable populations can fully participate in community leadership and economic transformation.
