About Us

The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) was established in 1887 and currently accredits over 3000 schools throughout the United States and in more than 90 countries around the world. MSA offers a variety of accreditation protocols to meet the unique needs of their diverse membership. The Association is a non-governmental, non-profit, peer-administered organization, and is comprised of the Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).

The MSA Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, building on the rich history of the Middle States Association, aspire to improve the quality of education in the region and around the world by assisting schools in achieving excellence and by recognizing through accreditation their commitment to continuous improvement.
