Mission
The mission of the Luzerne County Historical Society is to preserve and promote the collective history and heritage of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
About Us
Founded in 1858, LCHS is Pennsylvania's oldest county historical society. The Society runs a library, museum and two historic houses: the Denison House in Forty Fort, PA (originally built in 1790) and the Swetland Homestead in Wyoming (built between 1803 and 1850). The Society has a collection of 250,000 objects, books and documents. We present varied programs and exhibitions each year.
