Sentient is a meta-organization in the animal rights investigative space, dedicated to empowering the animal rights community.
- We create, customize, and share tools for activists, empowering them with knowledge, training, and more. For example, we've customized and used small, cellular, camouflaged cameras placed on the backs of animals (lambs, cows, and pigs) during their last day alive. This allows us to film in places that are otherwise unreachable—all from their point of view, making the animal the investigator. Here is a one-minute video from our investigation. This tool is intrinsically tied to the outreach strategy we suggest: Animal Storytelling, and can assist with campaigns to drive both institutional and individual change.
- We execute worldwide undercover investigations.
- We promote compassion through content content production & publication. During 2022-2023, our video content was viewed for more than 100 million minutes.
Our goal is to "communitize"—sharing valuable knowledge with animal rights activists in a structured, lasting manner—to uplift the community.
We are part of the effective altruism movement. We strive to create global, scalable activism that goes beyond a particular time and place.
