Bright Future foundation Uganda

Mukono, Central Region, Uganda

  • Mission

Our mission is to protect, educate, and empower vulnerable children in rural Uganda. We work to create safe environments, strengthen families, and open doors of opportunity so every child can build a bright and successful future.

    About Us

    Our Story

Bright Future Foundation Uganda was not created in an office or a boardroom — it was born in the dust roads of Mbalala‑Mukono, where children struggle to survive each day.

At Bright Future House, our founder Henry Kasozi Gumira witnessed a reality too painful to ignore. Children — some as young as six — walked the streets of Mbalala, Nakapinyi, Namawojjolo, and nearby villages collecting metal and plastic scraps just to earn a few coins. These children, known locally as kawenja or bakawenja, were dirty, hungry, unprotected, and often homeless. Many slept in bibanda (local movie halls), exposed to danger, exploitation, and abuse.

Their suffering was not hidden. It was everywhere.

And silence was no longer an option.

From this painful truth, Bright Future Foundation Uganda was born — not as a project, but as a movement. A movement to protect children who had been forgotten. A movement to restore dignity where it had been stolen. A movement to give every child a chance to grow, learn, and dream again.

    How We Started

The early days were simple but powerful.

    We walked into schools.

    We spoke in churches.

We gathered parents and leaders under trees and in classrooms.

We carried posters with the message “Every Child Matters.”

We introduced the Eight Rules of Child Safety, teaching children how to stay safe, speak up, and protect themselves. Volunteers stood proudly with pledge cards, promising to defend children in their communities.

The challenges were real — limited resources, skepticism, and the weight of a mission bigger than all of us.

But the victories were real too — children learning their rights, communities waking up, and a movement taking root.
