Beta OS
About Us
Beta OS is a Washington nonprofit corporation that builds open source technology for the conservation of the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales. Our work includes research, design and software development that supports the whales' recovery and helps the public understand the sounds of the Salish Sea.
Beta OS works with a collaborative group that works on the Orcasound website, where anyone can listen live to hydrophones in the Salish Sea. A community of volunteer software developers, designers, UX researchers and data scientists collaborates remotely on this work. We value openness, rigorous research, collaboration, and the belief that anyone can help protect whales by listening.
