Interfaith Food Center

At the Interfaith Food Center, our mission is clear: To provide nutritious food to our neighbors in need in an environment that nurtures dignity and respect. Our vision is a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nourishing food. We serve families across Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, and La Mirada--working together to reduce hunger and promote health through compassion and collaboration. We believe in: Compassion: Every person deserves kindness and care. Dignity: We treat every client and volunteer with respect. Equity: Access to nutritious food should never be a privilege. Community: Together, we can build a stronger, healthier future.

Founded in 1983 by a coalition of local churches and synagogues, the Interfaith Food Center (IFC) began as a grassroots response to rising food insecurity among seniors and homeless. Today, IFC is a non-faith-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving Whittier, La Mirada, and Santa Fe Springs.

Food insecurity continues to affect Los Angeles County at alarming rates. One in four households struggles to access enough food, with 30% of children and 20% of seniors at risk. Since 2020, IFC has seen a 41% increase in demand for food assistance, driven by economic instability and rising living costs.

Program Overview Drive-Through Grocery Program: Serves housed families with 60-80 pounds of food per visit, including dairy, bread, meat, produce, canned goods, and dessert. Larger families receive additional food. Food is prebagged and loaded by volunteers.

Food Program for the Unhoused: Offers three weekly distributions, each serving 60 individuals with ready-to-eat meals totaling 15-20 pounds per bag.
