ON MY OWN OF MICHIGAN

  • Mission

On My Own of Michigan helps make independent living possible for people with developmental disabilities.

    About Us

In our 26 years of service to the metro Detroit community, we’ve helped hundreds of people with autism, Down syndrome and other cognitive impairments achieve and maintain independence. Our programs include:

    • Independence Prep: a quarterly overnight independent living experience for teens and young adults to get them excited and ready for one day living on their own.
    • Family Consulting: family consulting provides families of teens and young adults with personalized plans for helping their students achieve post-high school independence.
    • Skill Building Program: providing four skill-building workshops and social activities each week to help adults with developmental disabilities learn the skills necessary to live independently and build healthy relationships.
    • Independence College: a two-year residential college-like experience focused on independent living for young adults with developmental disabilities.
    • Independent Living Program: providing personalized independent living support to adults with developmental disabilities making the transition to, and maintaining, independent living.
