  • Mission

    The Parkinson Association of the Carolinas (PAC) serves as a resource for individuals and their families affected by Parkinson's disease in the Carolinas through education, community outreach, and direct support. PAC aims to to empower those impacted by Parkinson's to better manage the disease and to maintain the highest quality of life, so they can live their best today.

    About Us

    One hundred percent of PAC's efforts directly benefit people with Parkinson's in the Carolinas. Through tools, resources, education, and support, we strive to help people remain independent and active. Not just for the person with Parkinson's, PAC supports care partners, family members, and friends to be able to manage the unique challenges they experiences. We want to make sure that no one feels alone with Parkinson's.

    It is estimated that 53,000 people are living with Parkinson's in the Carolinas, and it is the fastest growing neurodegenerative condition with someone being diagnosed every six minutes.

    Through our programs, so no one has to live alone. Our programs include:

    Movement Therapy & Exercise so people with Parkinson's can stay active, improve mobility, and enhance their quality of life. This includes direct sponsorship of exercise classes for Parkinson's that are provided at no charge for participants.

    Education & Outreach to empower individuals and families to better understand Parkinson's learn strategies to manage daily life, raise community awareness, and advocate for community needs. We do this through:

    • Symposia and other in-person educational meetings and events
    • Webinars
    • In-services and general presentations about Parkinson's disease
    • Health fairs

    Support through a network where people with Parkinson's and their loved ones can connect, share experiences, and find encouragement. This includes:

    • Virtual Support Groups
    • Young Onset Parkinson's Support Group
    • Referrals to support groups in cities and towns in the Carolinas

    Resources connecting people with Parkinson's and their families with information and tools to help them live fully with Parkinson's, including:

    • Monthly newsletter
    • Website with information and education to help understand Parkinson's and with helpful resources
    • Resource phone-line to connect people with local services and information
