  • Mission

FriendshipWorks' mission is to reduce isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston.

    About Us

We accomplish our mission by recruiting and training caring volunteers who provide friendship, support, advocacy, and assistance to older adults living in Boston, Brookline, Newton, Cambridge, and Somerville. We have 4 volunteer programs: Friendly Visiting, Friendly Helping, Medical Escorts, and PetPals. You select the opportunity that best fits your schedule and interests, no prior experience is required, and most of our opportunities can be accessed without a car. We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. To get started, check out all our volunteer opportunities here on VolunteerMatch, visit our website, or complete a volunteer application online. Join us in creating connections to end elder isolation today!
