    • Mission

    The mission of the Somerville Homeless Coalition (SHC) is to recognize each person's right to be respected, to be treated with dignity and to be provided with the basic human need for shelter, food, clothing and medical care. Beyond these services, the SHC also provides resources and incentives to empower homeless men, women and children to become self-sufficient members of their community through a comprehensive educational program, counseling, employment opportunities, housing search, daily living skills training, nutrition training and support, and other necessary services that meet individual needs.

    About Us

    The Somerville Homeless Coalition is a locally based organization whose mission is to house the homeless in the surrounding communities. We have varied programs which serve families, adults and young adults, and we also run a food bank. We believe that case management is critical in helping our clients get the help they need from available federal, state and local programs.
