Grounds for Health is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing cervical cancer in coffee-growing communities across Africa and Latin America, where women in rural areas often lack access to high-quality care. Since 1996, the organization has implemented cost-effective, high-impact prevention and treatment programs by partnering with coffee companies, cooperatives, local health organizations, and Ministries of Health. Grounds for Health has screened more than 255,000 women and treated over 21,000, while building capacity among health promoters, nurses, and lab technologists to ensure programs are culturally responsive and transitioned to local ownership. With active programs in Ethiopia and Kenya and expansion underway in Latin America, the organization is driven by a commitment to global health equity—working toward a future where no woman dies from a preventable disease. Recognized for its impact, Grounds for Health has been named Coffee Association of Canada Charity of the Year (2024), National Coffee Association Charity of the Year (2018; Finalist 2026), and a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner.
