    About Us

Are you a compassionate senior looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? Join the AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program, the Senior Companion Program or the RSVP Program. Northern Arizona University has proudly managed these national service programs for decades, and we would love for YOU to join us!

As a Foster Grandparent volunteer, you'll serve as a mentor, tutor, and positive role model to children in local schools, Head Start centers, early childhood programs, libraries, after-school programs, and other nonprofits that support youth. This is a unique opportunity to share your time, skills, and life experience to help children learn, grow, and thrive. Opportunities are available in Coconino, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai, and Yuma counties.

As a Senior Companion volunteer, help fellow senior citizens maintain their independence, reduce loneliness and provide respite to caregivers. Volunteers are matched up with community members that need support with basic needs including transportation and companionship. Senior Companion volunteers assist older neighbors, making sure they can live in their own homes for as long as possible. Opportunities are available in Coconino, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Yavapai, and Yuma counties.

Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Eligibility Requirements:

    • Be 55 years and older
    • Meet maximum income eligibility requirements to qualify for a stipend (below 200% of federal poverty rate)
    • Be willing to serve 5-35 hours per week
    • Be able to pass a background check

RSVP volunteers choose how, where, and when they want to serve. The RSVP program can match you with an opportunity to volunteer to address local challenges. RSVP volunteers serve at food banks, shelters, senior centers, local school, museums and more! Opportunities are available in Coconino, La Paz, Mohave, Navajo, Yavapai, and Yuma counties.
