    Description

    NAU AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Program

    Are you a compassionate senior looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? Join the AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Program and help fellow seniors maintain their independence, reduce loneliness, and provide respite to caregivers. Volunteers are matched up with community members that need support with basic needs including companionship. Senior Companion volunteers assist older neighbors, making sure they can live in their own homes for as long as possible. Opportunities are available in Coconino, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Yavapai, and Yuma counties.

    Details:

    • Assist homebound neighbors, making sure they can live in their own homes for as long as possible
    • Serve between 5 to 35 hours per week
    • Receive a modest tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement (as funding allows), training, accident insurance, and other benefits

    Eligibility Requirements

    To serve in AmeriCorps Seniors programs you must:

    • Be 55 years and older
    • Meet maximum income guidelines to qualify for a stipend (below 200% of federal poverty rate)
    • Be willing to serve 5-35 hours per week
    • Be able to pass a background check
