  • Mission

The Friends of the Sacramento Public Library, including branch Friends, is a volunteer community-based organization. Its dual mission is to advocate for the library and to provide funding for books, materials, programs and library activities primarily through selling donated books and materials.

    About Us

The Book Den is a used book store and warehouse. We are a major source of funding for The Friends of the Sacramento Public Library (FSPL). We raise funds by selling donated books, media and ephemera. We also hold offsite sales, donate unsaleable materials to agencies serving those who have no other access to books of their own, and actively minimize the amount of discarded materials that end up in landfill.

While many local library branches have active Friends groups, some lack the resources and local community support to raise funds for their own branches. Funds raised by The Book Den are shared throughout the library system, helping to ensure that all Sacramento Public Libraries have the materials and the programs they need to best serve their neighborhoods.
