The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health through education and community programs, develops suicide prevention strategies, learns more about emotional health through research, and provides support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide

The National Capital Area Chapter of AFSP serves as a vital resource for the Loudoun County community. We are a grassroots-driven organization fueled by a network of volunteers who believe that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Our Values & Who We Serve:

• Inclusivity: We are committed to providing specialized resources for high-risk populations, including the LGBTQ+ community and our Veterans, ensuring that support is accessible and culturally competent.
• Community-Based Action: Our flagship local event, the Loudoun Out of the Darkness Walk (September 19), serves as a cornerstone for healing and awareness in Leesburg and surrounding areas.
• Education: We offer programs like 'Talk Saves Lives' to local businesses, schools, and faith communities to provide the tools needed to recognize and respond to mental health crises.
