Hudson Valley Chapter/American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the only not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide. To achieve its mission AFSP is starting a chapter in the Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley Region Chapter will include Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Rockland, Putnam and Sullivan Counties. As a chapter of AFSP, we would implement local suicide prevention educational programs, awareness activities, and survivor support programs, as well as advocate for policies and legislation within our community and at the state level. Chapters raise funds to support research and our local programs, and involve community and business leaders, mental health professionals and people affected by suicide and others from our community in the work of the chapter.
