Civically Inc.

Civically, Inc. is a social enterprise nonprofit (501c3) focused on furthering community development by promoting civic and social literacy to instill self-reliance, while addressing emergent and immediate needs of those in the Greater Wilkinsburg and the Pittsburgh East End region.

Through the programs we create and the organization we partner with, we target specific challenges in the community such as:

• Eliminating food insecurity
• Removing barriers to access
• Implementing equity and sustainability for all
• Increasing engagement and literacy so community members realize themselves as social change agents

Civically, Inc. envisions a community that is truly self-reliant and creates opportunities from within that has a positive and sustainable impact. Knowing that for a community to flourish, residents must be engaged and connected to the tools to steer their own empowerment and prosperity. We exercise multi- approaches to accomplish this effort by focusing on creation of sustaining communities, public health advocacy, literacy, and equity building. Listed below are our notable programs which provide direct resources to the community.

FreeStore Wilkinsburg

Serving the Pittsburgh East End community since 2015 distributing new & gently used clothes, household goods, materials donated by private & retail donors. FreeStore Wilkinsburg is a community-based initiative that provides essential items and resources to residents free of charge. In addition to addressing economic challenges, a goal is to reduce waste and promote sustainability, especially in times of financial stress and/or emergency. FSW is independently operated by Civically.

FreeStore Fresh Market

Fresh Market was founded through a partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to provide fresh produce at no cost to community members. Through this market, we combat food insecurity by encouraging healthy meal preparations and education on nutrition.
