Palmetto Conservation Foundation

  • Mission

To foster an appreciation for South Carolina’s natural and cultural resources, providing opportunities for active recreation on the Palmetto Trail and other trail systems that can be enjoyed by all in South Carolina, regardless of gender, race, creed, age, or ability.

    About Us

The Palmetto Conservation Foundation is a non-profit that was founded 1989 and focuses on providing an impressive recreational resource for South Carolina-the Palmetto Trail-while also giving the public free access regardless of age, ability, or socioeconomic circumstance. The Palmetto Trail is a mountains-to-sea hiking trail that stretches from Walhalla in Oconee County to Awendaw in Charleston County. We have completed more than 380 miles of trail and our goal is 500 miles of continuous trail. The Palmetto Trail helps South Carolina communities grow and prosper while maintaining local character, preserving historic landmarks, and improving quality of life.
