Mission
We are a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.
About Us
Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a global organization rooted in compassion, dignity, and service. Founded by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam—a young law student in Paris inspired by the charitable works of St. Vincent de Paul—it has grown into an international network dedicated to helping those in need. St. Vincent de Paul Long Island (SVDPLI), founded in 1948, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the local chapter of this global mission.
With over 1,100 volunteers serving communities across Nassau and Suffolk Counties, we assist more than 200,000 Long Islanders each year through direct support, financial assistance, and essential resources. We meet people where they are, offering personalized care and hope—continuing a legacy of love, faith, and action that began nearly two centuries ago. Everyone is welcome. We believe in Neighbors Helping Neighbors—with respect, empathy, and care.
