Action in Montgomery (AIM)
Mission
Action in Montgomery (AIM) is a broad-based, community power organization dedicated to making Montgomery County and the State of Maryland a place where everyone can thrive. We work to build relationships with community members to engage in meaningful civic participation. We win our victories by meeting community members face-to-face, listening to understand the issues that are of concern to our neighbors, and identifying and developing leaders to seek justice and social change in their communities through holding elected and corporate officials accountable.
About Us
AIM listened to 1,800 community members across our member institutions, including congregations, Title I elementary schools, and tenant associations. Their stories informed our 2026-2030 “People’s Agenda,” which will guide us as we create a stronger, more inclusive democracy where everyone’s voice is heard. Our agenda addresses the top issues keeping our neighbors, their families, and their communities from thriving: Expanding access to legal representation, mental health support, and job opportunities for immigrant families; Addressing missing middle housing near public transit and on public land; and Encouraging the transition to high-efficiency appliances to improve indoor air quality and holding utility companies accountable.
