Equitable Solutions for the Indigenous
Mission
To help Indigenous communities get the support they need to live better lives by addressing Indigenous issues such as the intersection of health and finance.
About Us
The United States is home to 574 federally recognized Native American and Alaska Native nations, along with numerous state-recognized and non-recognized communities. In addition, there are 14 main independent sovereign Pacific Island Countries recognized by international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank that were previously colonized. Some Pacific Island Countries are still colonized to this day, and are considered jurisdictions of other countries such as the State of Hawaii.
UNDRIP stands for the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, a global human rights instrument adopted by the UN General Assembly on September 13, 2007. It sets minimum international standards for the survival, dignity, and well-being of Indigenous peoples worldwide. As a declaration, it is not legally binding under international law, but it provides an authoritative guide for countries to shape laws and policies. ESI seeks to advocate for the rights of indigenous peoples and communities.
