The Healing Initiatives Inc.

  • Mission

The Healing Initiatives, Incorporated makes total health accessible to all through a creative lens. Through welcoming, low-barrier, trauma-informed expressive arts, mindfulness, wellness education, family-centered support, educational advocacy, and resource navigation, THI helps children, youth, adults, caregivers, and families ground, recalibrate, express themselves, rebuild trust and stability, and move from surviving to thriving. We honor every person’s story without judgment, exclusion, or defining anyone solely by trauma—because healing is not a privilege; it is a community responsibility.

    About Us

The Healing Initiatives, Incorporated (THI) is a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and mindfulness wellness organization founded by Shantelle L. Fuller, M.Ed. THI is rooted in lived and professional experience across education, family advocacy, trauma-informed practice, creative arts, and community resource access.

Based in Baltimore and serving children, youth, adults, caregivers, and families, THI welcomes people seeking creativity, reflection, stress reduction, family support, personal growth, community, or practical tools for rebuilding. Participants do not need a diagnosis, and no one is defined solely by trauma.

THI’s developing community model combines studio practices—including printmaking, photography, painting, beginner pyrography, textiles, poetry, and journaling—with yoga, sound bathing, meditation, breathwork, wellness education, community circles, family-centered support, self-regulation tools, educational advocacy, and resource navigation. Programming is nonclinical and complementary. When specialized care is needed, THI seeks to connect participants with appropriately qualified providers and community resources.

THI is guided by safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment, dignity, inclusion, creativity, cultural responsiveness, and accountability. The organization is currently strengthening its governing board, financial systems, partnerships, funding base, evaluation tools, and capacity to establish a stable community space in Baltimore.
