    To deliver quality, individualized basic reading, math, and English language instruction to adults so they may become independent learners, develop self-confidence and meet their literacy goals.

    About Us

    The Oakland Literacy Council is a not-for-profit organization whose main purpose is to provide free tutoring to adults who read below the 9th grade level. The services are available to individuals who reside, work or attend school in Oakland County. The services are for basic English or English as a Second Language. The Council relies on volunteer tutors to meet one-on-one with students for two hours a week.
