Welcome to Nurture Seattle.

This program brings parents together through the powerful, exhausting, vulnerable, rewarding, meaningful experience that is parenthood. In the first days and weeks of welcoming a new baby into the world, parents are overwhelmed with an abundance of new emotions and new information, and are often unsure how to navigate and find normalcy in this unfamiliar world. Add to that the uncertainly around Covid-19, and many parents are feeling anxious and isolated these days. Nurture Seattle is an extending hand to support parents in the first years of their baby’s life. New parents will be matched with a trained, experienced parent mentor who can offer parenting information, referrals to local resources, and sometimes most critically, validation and a sympathetic ear -- all through text messages.

Nurture Seattle is the product of a collaborative partnership between NurturePA and Committee for Children. Building off the growth and success of a small & mighty non-profit in Pittsburgh, PA, the (equally small & mighty) Innovation Team at Committee for Children saw an opportunity to support the social and emotional growth and development of children from the very beginning of life. Providing new parents encouragement and support early on helps to relieve stress and build healthy habits, leading to better behavioral, cognitive, and developmental outcomes for children.
