  • Mission

The Eviction Defense Collaborative (EDC) is San Francisco’s leading nonprofit fighting for housing stability and tenants’ rights. Each year, we help thousands of San Franciscans stay in their homes through free legal representation, rental assistance, and advocacy. We believe that housing is a human right and that every tenant deserves access to justice and dignity.

    About Us

As the principal organization in San Francisco defending low-income tenants facing eviction, EDC provides free legal representation and rental assistance to help people stay in their homes. Through our integrated and collaborative approach, we pair legal advocacy with social services that address clients’ broader needs—offering crisis intervention, transportation and moving support, and connections to health and mental-health resources.

EDC also leads the city’s Tenant Right to Counsel (TRC) program, coordinating with partner organizations to ensure tenants have access to legal representation and a fair chance in housing court. Our Rental Assistance Disbursement Component (RADCo) program provides emergency and long-term rental assistance for tenants, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Each year, EDC supports thousands of San Francisco residents, helping to preserve housing stability, dignity, and community for those most at risk of losing their homes.
