Diamond in the Rough (DITR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to growing youth baseball across Africa by expanding access, opportunity, and long-term development pathways. We build fields, deliver equipment, train local coaches, and support community-led academies in countries including Uganda, Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Namibia, and more. Our mission is to empower young athletes through sport, education, and mentorship while strengthening the next generation of leaders across the continent.
Diamond in the Rough works hand-in-hand with local coaches, academies, and federations to create sustainable baseball ecosystems that benefit young players on and off the field. Our programs include skill-development clinics, coaching education, equipment distribution, community field-building, and the creation of academic and leadership pathways for promising student-athletes.
We collaborate with partners such as Harmony Baseball (Cameroon), ECDC (Uganda), Play Sport 4 Life (South Africa), IfWeBuildIt (Kenya), and WBSC Africa to unify development efforts under a shared vision. Our long-term initiatives include establishing country-wide youth leagues, hosting international exchange programs, and building the first multi-nation African training pipeline.
DITR is fueled by the belief that sport can transform lives, strengthen communities, and open doors for young athletes who deserve every opportunity to thrive.
