The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is an institution of research and higher education dedicated to the study of world affairs, with a particular emphasis on the crosscutting fields of international relations, development issues, and contemporary global challenges.
About Us
The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is a world-leading, Swiss accredited school specialising in global affairs and international development. We offer disciplinary master and PhD programmes in Economics, History, International Law, International Relations/Political Science and Anthropology & Sociology. Additionally, we offer an interdisciplinary master degree in International and Development Studies.
Our students hail from over 100 countries, with 85% coming from outside Switzerland. They form a diverse, dynamic and welcoming community.
Geneva is the city to be when it comes to the study of global governance. It is home to the United Nations, Red Cross, World Trade Organization, World Health Organization, UNHCR and other major multilateral agencies, NGOs and advocacy groups. It is safe, small and cosmopolitan, set between Europe’s largest lake and tallest mountain. Our students enjoy successful internships and careers in international organisations, the private sector, government, non-profits, higher education and research.
