The Sewing Labs is an inclusive and welcoming community teaching the legacy of sewing for employment, entrepreneurship, and enrichment.
The Sewing Labs is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals through the textile arts. We offer a registered apprenticeship program that equips low-income individuals with industrial sewing skills, opening doors to stable, well-paying jobs.
But we’re more than just workforce training. Our community programs provide free sewing instruction, creative expression through art therapy, and hands-on opportunities for students, volunteers, and local organizations to engage with the textile arts.
We’re also committed to sustainability, diverting thousands of pounds of fabric and sewing machines from landfills by repurposing them for learning and community use.
Through skill-building, creativity, and environmental responsibility, The Sewing Labs stitches together opportunity and impact. We’re not just teaching sewing. We’re building skills, creating jobs, and preserving an art form that strengthens communities.
