Whether you can spare a couple of hours or help with the heavier lifting, we'd love to have you on the team.

    Booth Staffing Volunteers

Shift Times: 2-hour shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during each day of the Expo.

    Available shifts:

    • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    • 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    • 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

We are seeking two volunteers for each shift. At least one member of The Sewing Labs staff will be present in the booth at all times to provide guidance and answer questions.

    Booth Volunteer Responsibilities

    • Welcome and engage Expo attendees.
    • Share information about The Sewing Labs and our mission and programs.
    • Answer basic questions and direct visitors to staff for more detailed information.
    • Encourage visitors to sign up for newsletters, classes, or mailing lists.
    • Assist with merchandise displays and keep the booth neat and inviting.
    • Help restock materials and promotional items as needed.
    • Support demonstrations or activities taking place in the booth.
    • Provide a warm, friendly, and positive presence throughout your shift.

    Setup & Teardown Volunteers

These volunteer opportunities require a longer time commitment and involve more physical activity than booth staffing.

    Wednesday Afternoon – Setup

Timing TBD - Volunteers will assist with:

    • Packing supplies and merchandise at The Sewing Labs.
    • Loading vehicles.
    • Transporting materials to the Overland Park Convention Center.
    • Unloading and setting up displays, fixtures, signage, and merchandise.
    • Organizing the booth to ensure it is ready before the Expo opens.

    Saturday Evening – Teardown

Beginning at 5:00 p.m., volunteers will assist with:

    • Packing merchandise and displays.
    • Disassembling booth fixtures and signage.
    • Loading vehicles.
    • Returning materials to The Sewing Labs.
    • Unloading and organizing supplies back at the shop.
    • Physical Requirements for Setup & Teardown
    • Ability to lift and carry boxes and equipment (up to approximately 40 pounds).
    • Comfortable bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
    • Willingness to assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials.
    • Team-oriented attitude and ability to follow directions in a busy environment.

Thank you for helping us share the mission of The Sewing Labs with the sewing and quilting community. Your time and support make a meaningful difference.

    Frequently Asked Question

Can I sign up for more than one 2-hour shift?

Absolutely! We'd be delighted to have you volunteer for multiple shifts. You're welcome to sign up for as many 2-hour booth staffing shifts as your schedule allows. Whether you can help for a couple of hours or spend the entire day with us, your support is greatly appreciated and helps make our Expo presence a success.

If you plan to volunteer for multiple consecutive shifts, we encourage you to take breaks as needed and stay hydrated throughout the day.
