About Us
About Bainbridge Prepares
Bainbridge Prepares organizes the community to be ready to respond to and recover from any challenge that test our community’s resilience, including natural and human-caused disasters. We are the largest volunteer-driven organization in Kitsap County (Washington state).
Who We Serve
Our primary area of service is the 27-square-mile Bainbridge Island with a population of 24,825. As the island is a popular tourist destination, we also support the needs of stranded non-residents and workers who may be unable to leave the island in the event of a major disaster.
What We Do
Bainbridge Prepares, in partnership with Bainbridge Island Fire Department and the City of Bainbridge Island in four overlapping program areas:
- Creating awareness and educating the community about the importance of preparedness.
- Training community members on the skills they need to prepare for an emergency.
- Exercising readiness by validating emergency plans, procuring emergency supplies, developing emergency response procedures, and exercising volunteers to be ready to respond.
- Recruiting and engaging volunteers who are essential to preparation and response efforts.
