  • Mission

The National Kidney Foundation is revolutionizing the fight to save lives by eliminating preventable kidney disease, accelerating innovation for the dignity of the patient experience, and dismantling structural inequities in kidney care, dialysis, and transplantation

    About Us

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is the most comprehensive patient-focused organization dedicated to kidney health in the United States, the NKF works to eliminate preventable kidney disease, accelerate innovation, and dismantle inequities in kidney care.

Kidney disease affects 37 million Americans, with another 80 million at risk — yet 90% of cases go undiagnosed. The NKF serves patients at every stage of their journey, from early diagnosis through dialysis and transplantation, along with their families and healthcare providers.

Their programs include free kidney health screenings, a patient helpline (available in English and Spanish), peer mentorship for those living with chronic kidney disease, research grants, patient scholarships, and congressional advocacy. A core pillar of their work is health equity — ensuring every person has equal access to quality kidney care regardless of background or circumstance.
