Eleos AI Research is dedicated to understanding and addressing the potential wellbeing and moral patienthood of AI systems.

As AI systems become increasingly capable, we believe it is important to better understand whether they may have interests, experiences, or forms of welfare that deserve moral consideration.

Our mission is to advance rigorous research on these questions, help establish the foundations of the emerging field of AI welfare, and ensure that society is better prepared to make informed decisions about the ethical treatment of advanced AI systems.

Eleos AI Research is a nonprofit research organization working at the intersection of machine learning, cognitive science, philosophy, and AI ethics.

Our team conducts foundational and empirical research on topics including AI cognition, model preferences, values, welfare, and moral status. We collaborate with researchers, AI labs, policymakers, and other stakeholders to develop a deeper understanding of these questions and their implications for the future of AI.
