Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum
Mission
The Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum is a dynamic cultural hub dedicated to preserving and celebrating textile traditions. Through interactive exhibitions, educational programs, and community partnerships, we connect people to the stories, skills, and creativity woven into every fiber.
About Us
- The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum highlights various textile art styles by many artists and has hosted over 50 exhibits since the museum’s founding.
- Southern Quilt and Textile museum was founded in 2012 and resides at 306 Bradley St. in Carrollton, Georgia.
- In 1998, members of the Georgia Quilt Project and The Georgia Quilt Council planned and advocated for the creation of a quilt and textile museum in the southeast. A newly formed committee known as Friends of the Quilt Museum encouraged Carrollton, GA due to local hospitality and less traffic than a major metropolitan city. In 2009, The Georgia Quilt Council formally selected Carrollton as the home of what would become the Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum (SQTM).
- SQTM currently shares the county owned building with two other offices. The museum features three galleries, a classroom space with library, and a consignment-based gift shop.
- We are looking to preserve the art of quilting and textiles as well as educate the community.
