About Us

Families Of Color Seattle (FOCS) is a non-profit organization that connects parents to build a loving community of families of color. Founded in 2013, FOCS is led by mothers of color. We envision a world in which children of color are born into a loving community that is racially and economically just.

Our key programs fall into three major categories: parent groups, community resources and events to support thriving families, and racial equity consulting to promote systems change. We specialize in community dialogues, workshops, cultural activities, and consulting on race, family engagement, and anti-bias education. We equip parents and educators with the tools to talk with children on identity, racism, inclusion and equity, and trauma-informed practices.

FOCS has connected 3000+ families into an intercultural and interethnic community, employed and trained 40+ parent educators to facilitate parent and affinity groups, and provided 40+ consultation and parent and educator workshops to community organizations, public and independent schools, and preschools. FOCS is fiscally sponsored by Rainier Valley Corps (RVC).
