Tupelo Press
Mission
For 27+ years, Tupelo Press has been devoted to publishing and promoting contemporary poetry and literary prose both by emerging and established writers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
About Us
Tupelo Press discovers, develops, publishes, and champions exceptional poetry, literary prose, translation, and hybrid writing that enlarges the possibilities of literary art. Through rigorous editorial collaboration, innovative publishing, and year-round educational and community programs, we cultivate writers at every stage of their careers while connecting readers with works of lasting artistic, intellectual, and emotional significance.
We are committed to expanding opportunities for historically underrepresented writers—including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Indigenous, immigrant, disabled, and economically marginalized voices—and to fostering a literary culture in which artistic excellence, formal innovation, and diverse lived experience are mutually sustaining. We believe that publishing is an act of cultural stewardship: preserving space for ambitious literature, nurturing creative risk, and ensuring that transformative voices find enduring audiences.
