Mission
The Human Architecture + Planning Institute, Inc (theHapi.org) is a non-profit whose mission is to improve the design of the built environment through education and research. Founded in 2020 by architects, planners, and researchers who saw a gap between what the biological sciences reveal about the human experience and what gets applied in design practice, its goal is to bridge the arts and sciences, promoting well-being for all. TheHapi.org's board includes architects, authors, university faculty, and neuroscientists who collaborate and bring research directly into the field.
About Us
theHapi.org provides online courses, presents at international conferences, and educational events, and hosts conferences for students and the public at large. Its research has been published in journals, including the Journal of Applied Sciences. Its board co-edited The Routledge Handbook of Neuroscience and the Built Environment, published in 2025, which compiled the work of 52 authors in 14 countries, keen to apply new understandings in neuroscience to the built environment to build a healthier world.
