Ariadni Lesvos

Ariadni Lesvos is a small independent grassroots organisation on the Greek island of Lesvos, working primarily with refugee women, teenage girls and children.

Our mission is to create a protected, reliable and welcoming environment where people can experience safety, dignity, stability and meaningful human connection. Through practical everyday support, education, environmental awareness and community-based activities, we aim to strengthen self-confidence, participation and long-term wellbeing.

Our work is guided by sustainability, human dignity, social inclusion and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Ariadni Lesvos offers a safe and welcoming environment with beautiful, bright and clean spaces in an ordinary residential neighbourhood. Creating reliability, emotional safety and everyday normality is an important part of our work, including safe and dependable transportation to and from our activities.

We are a small, age-diverse team that has worked together for many years. We stand for reliability, mutual support and long-term commitment. Over time we have developed a calm and trusting working culture in which we continue to develop both the organisation and ourselves together, responding flexibly to current needs and realities.

Our mornings usually begin with a rich and healthy breakfast shared together in a relaxed atmosphere. The morning programme for women and teenage girls includes creative, nurturing and relaxing activities as well as educational topics such as women’s health, life in Europe, legal realities in Europe, and strengthening confidence and personal development.

Participants also have the possibility to wash clothes, access a small clothing supply and receive basic food items to take home when needed.

In the afternoons we offer programmes for preschool and school-age children, including healthy meals and safe transportation. Activities are guided by a qualified environmental educator and focus on nature, environmental awareness, sustainability, creativity, strengthening self-confidence and encouraging children’s sense of agency and participation. A small educational garden is also part of the programme.

We additionally organise excursions around the island, combining educational activities with recreation, relaxation and opportunities to experience the natural and cultural environment of Lesvos.

Ariadni Lesvos works in close cooperation with Hoffnung leben e.V. and related educational initiatives such as Eco Team Europe and .
