    Description

Volunteers sought for transfers, logistics and more – practical, grounded, environmentally conscious people

Ariadni Lesvos is a small independent community initiative on the Greek island of Lesvos. The work began in 2015 as a grassroots effort supporting refugee families and vulnerable people through practical everyday assistance, safe spaces, and relationship-based support. Over time, the work developed organically into community-based programmes focused on education, psychosocial support, integration, and empowerment. In 2022, Ariadni Lesvos was formally established as a local structure on the island, including programmes such as “Let’s Talk”, which focuses on education, integration, and women’s empowerment.

Today, the work centres around early childhood education, psychosocial stabilisation, women’s and girls’ empowerment, environmental education, integration preparation, and community support. The approach is long-term, community-oriented, and non-paternalistic, with a strong focus on calm, reliable day-to-day support rather than activism or short-term interventions.

Life here is simple, grounded, and based on mutual respect, emotional maturity, environmental awareness, and independent responsibility. People who feel comfortable here usually value meaningful work, quiet cooperation, low-consumption living, and authentic human connection.

We are currently looking for volunteers who can stay for at least four weeks and contribute reliably to everyday operations such as transfers, maintenance, gardening, errands, childcare support, and practical daily tasks. Volunteers should be at least 25 years old, ideally older and emotionally mature, with very good English skills and the ability to work independently. A driver’s license and experience driving larger vehicles are highly appreciated.

This place may not be suitable for people mainly looking for nightlife, constant social activities, highly structured programmes, or short-term volunteer experiences. Daily life often requires patience, flexibility, initiative, and quiet reliability.
