Michael Reese Research and Education Foundation

  • Mission

To continue the legacy of Michael Reese Hospital through supporting research, education, and community service through relationships that foster quality health care.

    About Us

Founded in 1881, Chicago’s Michael Reese Hospital was a private institution operating on the principle that patients were best served when research, education and clinical care all came together to create the best possible environment for care. When the hospital was sold to a for-profit company in 1998, the hospital’s medical staff started The Michael Reese Research and Education Foundation to continue to support those founding principles. Since the hospital closed in 2009, the Foundation has continued its work to keep the Michael Reese vision alive through support of dozens of other worthy organizations. Internally, the Foundation supports an HIV clinic and a breast and cervical cancer screening programs that provide care to underserved populations. Over the last 16 years the Foundation has provided more than $10,609,524 dollars to Chicago area programs to maintain the Reese vision of optimal patient care.
