  • Mission

New York Fibershed’s mission is to build a circular, climate-beneficial textile system across New York State.

We connect fiber producers, processors, designers, brands, and consumers to advance regenerative agriculture, cooperative economics, and local manufacturing. Through education, industry development, and collaborative projects, we are cultivating a resilient “Soil-to-Soil” fiber system rooted in environmental stewardship, climate justice, and regional economic vitality.

    About Us

New York Fibershed is a bioregional textile community reimagining how textiles are grown, processed, made, and valued. We work at the intersection of climate, community, and local economies to strengthen connections between local fiber, local dye, and local labor.

Our network brings together farmers, mills, natural dyers, designers, brands, students, and consumers — all committed to regenerating landscapes and rebuilding regional textile infrastructure. We cultivate an inclusive and accessible ecosystem that supports producers through technical assistance, market development, and cooperative frameworks.

Through flagship initiatives like the New York Textile Lab and the Carbon Farm Network, we are advancing a “Soil-to-Soil” model that restores ecosystems, sequesters carbon, uplifts rural economies, and reconnects people to the land through the clothes they wear
