    Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization working in the economically and politically disenfranchised community of Boyle Heights to empower the community personally and socially by developing grassroots projects in education, leadership, and service.

    About Us

    Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission is a community building organization whose mission is to provide training, education and social services with the Pico- Aliso/Boyle Heights district of East Los Angeles. Proyecto Pastoral coordinates five community based programs.

    Our Vision

    The Community is empowered to address evolving challenges and practices community solidarity. Proyecto Pastoral serves as a model for similar communities of empowerment and community participation in self and social transformation.

    Our History

    Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission was founded in 1986 by community residents and the California Province of Jesuits. It has grown into a highly effective community - building organization. Proyecto Pastoral is committed to involving local community members in the planning, design and implementation of its programs. Proyecto Pastoral serves over 2,500 children, youth and families annually through its five programs.

    Our community building programs include the Guadalupe Homeless Project, an emergency shelter for men and a separate shelter for senior aged women; IMPACTO, a youth development program for K-12 youth; Early Childhood Education Centers, focused on preparing children 18 months to 5 years old for kindergarten, and Comunidad en Movimiento, a civic engagement and leadership development program. Proyecto Pastoral also serves as the backbone organization for Promesa Boyle Heights, a cradle to career collaborative that is changing outcomes for neighborhood youth.
