Driven by Village Voices, Sustained by Local Hands

Just beyond the bustling tourist centers of Siem Reap lies a rural Cambodia where families face daily hurdles to securing clean water, nutritious food, and stable livelihoods. Trailblazer Foundation began simply—with a school project. However, as Co-founder and Executive Director Chris Coats reflects, the team quickly learned that water had to be the first priority:

"A person must have access to clean, potable water to improve health and sanitation. People must also have a water resource for growing their crops, livestock, and fish—the source of their food and commerce. Bad water is the cause of illness, malnutrition, and poverty. When there is good water, associated developments can occur to improve livelihoods and establish sustainable commerce."

Today, our mission is to partner with these rural communities to build that self-reliant future, starting with the very element that makes all other development possible.

By joining us as a volunteer, you will step directly onto the front lines of this transformation. Working side-by-side with our dedicated local staff, you will get your hands dirty constructing bio-sand water filters, learning the tangible mechanics of sustainable aid. The real magic happens when you load up the filters and head out into the heart of the villages. Delivering these systems means driving past the tourist track, walking into rural homesteads, and working directly with the families who will use them.
