Speak unDEfeated uplifts Uganda’s most vulnerable by enhancing education for underprivileged youth, and providing support for families, and single working mothers. As the youth population grows and single parents—particularly women—struggle against abandonment and scarcity, we are dedicated to breaking the cycle of extreme poverty and reducing child marriage to foster a brighter future for all.

Speak unDEfeated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and women through education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and storytelling. We believe that where someone is born or the challenges they face should never determine their future.

Founded by Desange Kuenihira, a survivor of war and former refugee, Speak unDEfeated was inspired by the transformative power of education and opportunity. After fleeing civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and spending part of her childhood in a refugee camp in Uganda, Desange experienced firsthand how access to education, mentorship, and community support can change the course of a life. Today, that experience fuels our mission to help others discover their own potential and become leaders in their communities.

Our work focuses on supporting underserved youth and women in Uganda and the United States through educational scholarships, leadership development, entrepreneurship initiatives, mentorship programs, and community engagement. We strive to equip participants with the confidence, knowledge, and resources they need to build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and future generations.
